Currently, there are no Lumbar Disc Replacement studies ongoing.  However, some devices –such as the Charite™ and Pro-Disc™ - have been approved by the FDA and some are in their final phases of approval – such as The Maverick™.  Please contact RMSAS for how we may assist you.

Lumbar artificial disc replacement surgery is an alternative to traditional back fusions that use rods, cages and screws.  The procedure involves removing the old, damaged disc in the spine and replacing it with an artificial disc.  The results are improved mobility and shorter recovery times.  While not all patients are candidates for the disc replacement surgery, most patients have the same thought process: “Why have a fusion when I can have movement?”  Let the staff at RMSAS help you decide the right procedure for you.
